Dr. Monique Willis is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with almost 20 years of clinical experience. Her therapeutic approach combines family systems, narrative and cognitive therapy, and attachment theory, mainly focusing on power dynamics, culture, and intimate relationships. Dr. Willis believes in treating her clients holistically through mindfulness practices that focus on the mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Willis also serves as an assistant professor in a California Marriage and Family Therapy Program, where she teaches and supports students in their clinical training. As an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor, Dr. Willis trains students in culturally-sensitive therapy for community and integrated care settings. She focuses on addressing the needs of underrepresented and underserved communities and providing high-quality behavioral health education to her students. Her current research interests bridge her clinical focus on health conditions and look at health disparities and access to quality healthcare.
Dr. Willis enjoys spending time with her children in her free time, practicing yoga, dancing, biking, and meditating on the beach.
